Live rodent among violations found inside 5 restaurants ordered shut

All restaurants were allowed to re-open following re-inspections

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Rodents, a sewage back up, roaches and hand-washing issues were found at five South Florida restaurants last week.

Those five places were all ordered shut.

All of the places listed below were allowed to re-open following ordered cleanup and re-inspections.

"Live rodent present. Observed 1 live rodent in alcohol beverage storage area next to front counter and food prep area."

"Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed 2 dry droppings behind euro pro counter top oven, 2-dry droppings behind microwave under shelf at front counter, observed Lower shelf under front counter behind toaster 2- moist droppings."

"Rodent rub marks present along plumbing pipe adjacent to alcohol beverage storage also along lower side walls of center entrance to counter."

"Objectionable odor in establishment. Observed in alcohol storage area."

"Build-up of food debris, dust or dirt on nonfood-contact surface. Observed under equipment at front counter."

"Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Aproximately 30 dry rodent droppings in the cabinet under the front counter hand sink."

"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Aproximately 20 live roaches in front counter cook line area in a counter cabinet (no doors) next to open top cooler and on the floor of this same area."

"Stop sale issued on potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) food due to temperature abuse."

"All potentially hazardous (time/temperature control for safety) foods in reach-in cooler cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Tzatziki 46 degrees Fahrenheit, ricotta 46 degrees Fahrenheit, grape leaves 52 degrees Fahrenheit, rice 50 Fahrenheit and eggplant 54 degrees Fahrenheit on the flip top front counter cook line reach in cooler. Cut lettuce at 53 degrees Fahrenheit, tomato paste 52 degrees Fahrenheit on the open top front counter cook line reach in cooler, discarded cut lettuce 54 degrees Fahrenheit, moldy tomato paste 55 degrees Fahrenheit, cooked rice 56 degrees Fahrenheit, cooked chickpeas 56 degrees Fahrenheit and fish 52 degrees Fahrenheit (personal food) at the two door true cooler (vegetables only posted on the doors). Discarded."

I was explained by the owner that this chicken was properly cooled from 135 degrees to 41 degrees Fahrenheit within 6 hours. However he pulled the chicken this morning and therefor the temperature is higher than 41 degrees Fahrenheit, he will fill his empanadas now with chicken, freeze them and when needed bake empanadas to 310 degrees Fahrenheit, for hot holding."

"Dead roaches on premises. Too many to count in hand wash sink in kitchen area, behind steam table, behind refrigerators, behind storage shelves, under counters at the front counter and kitchen area, along base boards in kitchen and front service areas."
