POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A second arrest has been made in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Pompano Beach that occurred over two years ago, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday.
BSO deputies said they received a call just after 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 28, 2021, regarding a shooting in the 2400 block of Northeast Sixth Avenue.

Authorities said deputies responded to the scene and found a man, who BSO identified as Sergio Barbosa, and a woman, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported both victims to a nearby hospital where Barbosa was pronounced dead, according to investigators. The woman survived her injuries.
Further investigation revealed that two gunmen, who BSO identified as 35-year-olds Alfredo Blue and Chad Daron Sanford, both of Pompano Beach, approached the victims, who were outside near a vehicle.
Deputies said Sanford began struggling with Barbosa while Blue began struggling with the woman.
According to detectives, the woman and Blue were known to one another. The woman managed to get into a car and begin driving before she was eventually shot by Blue. She then crashed the vehicle moments later.
Shortly after, Sanford threw Barbosa to the ground, and Sanford and Blue then shot him multiple times, detectives said.
On March 8, 2021, members of BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) Unit arrested Blue for murder and attempted murder, authorities confirmed.
On April 11, BSO detectives confirmed they arrested Sanford on those same charges.
As of Thursday, both men are being held without bond at the Broward County Main Jail.
Authorities have not confirmed Barbosa’s age due to Marcy’s Law and a motive for the shooting remains unknown at this time.
