Authorities battle grass fire in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade firefighters battled a grass fire in southwest Miami-Dade Wednesday evening, authorities confirmed.

An MDFR spokesperson said crews responded to the fire around 4 p.m. in the area of Southwest 112th Avenue and 256th Street, near the Florida Turnpike.

Authorities confirmed the fire has burned approximately 20 acres of land.

No injuries have been reported at this time and police are urging travelers to drive carefully as smoke billows through the area.

The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
