Vero Beach man faces 4 charges in Miami-Dade

MIAMI – A 26-year-old man from Vero Beach stands accused of trying to kill someone in Miami-Dade County and attempting to cover it up. He was arrested in Indian River County after a police pursuit.

Leequan Jackson was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Sunday without bond after he appeared before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Andrea R. Wolfson on Saturday.

Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jackson, who they considered to be “armed and dangerous” on April 27 after his stepfather implored him to surrender.

Deputies reported following a red sports utility vehicle and a stolen Ford F150, and stopping both drivers before realizing they were related to Jackson — and had dropped him off nearby.

After a pursuit, deputies detained Jackson at the Indian River County Jail before his extradition. Miami-Dade correctional officers booked him shortly before 12:30 p.m., on Friday at TGKCC.

Miami-Dade court records show prosecutors filed the case against Jackson and a judge issued an arrest warrant on April 29. He was facing one count of second-degree felony attempted murder with a deadly weapon and three counts of second-degree felony tampering with a witness, victim, or informant.
