Loved ones honor children killed by street violence in Miami-Dade County

Ceremony held for 108 children at Sherdavia Jenkins Peace Park

MIAMI – Friends and family members are honoring the lives of children killed by street violence in Miami-Dade County.

One of those children was 9-year-old Sherdavia Jenkins, who was hit by a stray bullet in front of her home in 2006. She died while family members attempted to revive her.

On the eighth anniversary of her death, loved ones gathered at Sherdavia Jenkins Peace Park on Northwest 12th Avenue to remember the 108 children killed in Miami-Dade County.

White balloons were released at the ceremony in honor of all of the victims, as families discussed ways to stop the violence.
