A man spent his 22nd birthday in jail on Sunday after police accused him of sexually battering a drunk 17-year-old girl in the parking garage of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Police charged Joshua Surman with sexual battery against a victim over 12 years old with special conditions.
According to the Seminole Police Department, the 17-year-old was drinking with a friend in the parking lot, then inside the casino. The friend bought the 17-year-old drinks.
About 5 a.m. Sunday, they drunkenly left the casino together but were unable to find their car, police said. Surman offered to help, and while the 17-year-old's friend walked away to look for their car, he sexually assaulted the 17-year-old.
Security saw Surman with her and called police, who arrested him.
