PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -

A man could face criminal charges after allegedly trespassing on school property, then hitting a police cruiser when officers arrived at the scene.

Emilio Espinoza-Rojas crashed through closed gates at Pines Charter West School around 1 a.m., according to Pembroke Pines Police.

Officers arrived to find Espinoza-Rojas driving through the parking lot, directly towards the officers. He struck one patrol car, trapping an officer inside.

Espinoza-Rojas left the scene, driving east on Pembroke Road. In the 17800 block he lost a tire, ran off the road, and collided with a tree, his car ending upside down.

Both Espinoza-Rojas and the officer involved in the crash were treated and released at Memorial Regional Hospital.

Espinoza-Rojas is charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
