Man dead after Fort Lauderdale house fire, deputies say

Fire crews rescue man from Broadview Park neighborhood home

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man is dead after flames erupted at his home Saturday morning in the Broadview Park neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale, deputies said.

Crews arrived after 8 a.m. at a one-story duplex at 4101 SW 18th Ct. in Central Broward.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said fire crews found and rescued the man inside of the burning home. The fire was confined to the bedroom of the home.

The man was taken to Broward Health, where he later died, deputies said.

No one else was injured in the fire, deputies said.

BSO's homicide unit is investigating the suspicious death and working to identify the man. Deputies said the Broward Sheriff Fire Marshal's Bureau and the division of state fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
