Man denies selling clean urine online

Craigslist ad offers ounce of clean urine for $20

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – A man denied listing an ad on Craigslist that said his urine was for sale to anyone wanting to pass a drug test despite selling some to a Local 10 producer as part of a hidden camera investigation.

The ad said it was $20 for an ounce of clean urine.

"I guarantee I'm 100% drug free," read the ad. "Available anytime."

A Local 10 producer arranged to buy $20 worth of urine from Dustin, who met the producer at his apartment at the Hamptons Sober House, a halfway house in Delray Beach. During the sale, Dustin also told the producer how to pass a drug test.

"I wouldn't steer you wrong," he said.

Dustin said he was recovering and moved to South Florida because he was getting into too much trouble while living on the state's west coast.

A few days later, when asked by Local 10's Jeff Weinsier, Dustin denied selling his urine out of his apartment.

"Dustin, you're in a rehab, trying to get sober yourself," said Weinsier.

"I am sober, man," he answered.

"I know but you're trying to help people cheat the system," replied Weinsier.

"I don't know what they use it with," Dustin said.

"I'm kind of in awe. I'm not speechless normally. That's kind of why I'm a little bit -- I just don't know what to do," said Mitchell Brown, manager of the Hamptons Sober House. "Thank you for showing me that this has happened."

Unlike some states, Florida doesn't have laws making it illegal to knowingly sell urine that will be used to pass a drug screening.

"Somebody who is doing this is not in recovery, is not honest, and that is what we teach here -- is honesty," said Ryan Johnston with Cornerstone Recovery.

"He knows the system, he plays the system. He doesn't care," added Barbara Hernandez, a therapist. "I think the consequences of that person's actions should definitely be severe.

John Giordano with G&G Holistic Treatment said if a client at his facility was caught selling urine for drug screenings, that person would be thrown out.

"It could hurt people seriously. If we're not able to intervene on somebody when we catch them with drugs in their system, we can intervene and help them, but if we don't know, then they could die," said Giordano.

The ad was removed from Craigslist after Local 10's investigation. Dustin was also asked to leave the Hamptons Sober House.
