Man dies following shooting at gas station

Police investigate a fatal shooting at a Lauderdale Lakes gas station.


A 29-year-old man has died after he was shot at a Lauderdale Lakes gas station.

Kemar Austin was sitting in his parked car outside of a Citgo gas station at 4449 N. State Road 7 on Sunday afternoon when the gunman approached him, firing several shots before leaving he scene.

According to BSO spokesperson Keyla Concepcion, Austin drove 10 blocks after being shot. He crashed his car into a median in the 3400 block of N. State Road 7. Austin was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

It is unclear whether Austin was targeted by the gunman. Anyone was information is asked to contact BSO Homicide Detective Valerian Perez at 954-765-4321 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (4377).

A reward of up to $3,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
