Man dies while diving off the Florida Keys

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says a diver died in the waters off Plantation Key on Thursday.
The unidentified 52-year-old male victim was visiting from Pennsylvania and diving with two friends in the area of Davis Reef.
According to the police report, the victim had signaled to a friend that he wanted to surface. After removing his gear upon surfacing, the friend noticed that the victim had slipped back under the water.
The victim was pulled back from underwater and placed in the boat, but was unresponsive.
Upon arriving at Tavernier Creek Marina, paramedics transported the victim to Mariner's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
