Eric Ellington to be sentenced in fatal gas station shooting

Prosecutors seek life in prison without parole for 19-year-old

MIAMI – A teenager convicted in the fatal shooting of a couple at a Miami Gardens gas station in 2011 is expected to be sentenced Friday.

Eric Ellington, 19, was found guilty in March on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Julian Soler, 23, and Kennia Duran, 24, during a carjacking in July 2011.

Ellington was 16 years old when police said he shot and killed the couple while they were pumping gas into Soler's 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra. Police said they were ambushed and forced out of the car.

Two other men, Dylan McFarlane and Wayne Williams, were also arrested. They are awaiting trial.

Prosecutors are seeking life in prison without parole.
