Man hospitalized after being shocked at Hollywood grocery store

Authorities believe lightning may have struck man's grocery cart, nearby area

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man was taken to the hospital Saturday after authorities say he was shocked by lightning nearby at a grocery store.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon as the middle-aged man was heading inside the Penn Dutch Meats store, located at 3950 North 28th Terrace in Hollywood.

Fire officials believe the lightning may have struck the man's grocery cart or the area around him.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they said the man was alert and OK.

The man was taken to the Memorial Regional Hospital in stable condition, but was disoriented, authorities said. His name has not been provided at this time.
