Shawn Forbes accused of intentionally striking brother with car in Pembroke Pines

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. ā€“ Police say a man has turned himself in after his brother died Monday from injuries he suffered when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police said Shawn Forbes, 36, and his brother, Everan Forbes, 42, got into an altercation on July 27 inside their home at 1421 SW 68th Blvd.

When the argument moved onto the front yard, the two began physically fighting before Shawn Forbes threw a brick landscape paver into Everan Forbes' vehicle.

Police said Everan Forbes told his brother he was going to call the police. That's when Shawn Forbes got into his 2003 white Mercury Grand Marquis, punched the gas and intentionally struck his brother, according to police.

A witness told police Shawn never slowed down or hit his brakes at any time before Everan Forbes was struck so hard that he was hurled into the air and struck a parked vehicle.

Police said Shawn Forbes fled the area.

Everan Forbes was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until Monday, when he died from his injuries.

Police said Shawn Forbes is at the Broward County mail jail. He faces a charge of premeditated murder in the first degree. He was in bond court Tuesday, but his hearing was delayed until Wednesday so that he can find a lawyer.
