MIAMI – Streets in Little Havana have reopened after they were shut down for several hours as police searched for a man who pointed a gun at them Thursday night, Miami police said.
It began Thursday evening in the 1000 block of Southwest Third Street in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood.
Miami police said the incident started as a narcotics investigation. Six people were the target of a preliminary narcotics investigation.
At some point during a confrontation with officers, one of the men pointed a gun at an officer before running away, police said.
No shots were fired in the incident. The man with the gun ran into an apartment building nearby.
All of the men ran away, but five of them have been taken into custody, police said. The final man is described as Hispanic, possibly in his early 20s who frequents the Little Havana area.
Police set up a perimeter and searched door to door at each of the homes in the area to try to find him. They believe he may be armed and dangerous.
Residents were allowed back into their homes late Thursday night.
