Nationwide Pools owner has license revoked

No fine levied against Keith Stuart

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – The state of Florida revoked the license of the owner of Nationwide Pools, a pool-construction company accused of ripping off its customers and leaving their pools unfinished.

Court documents say Nationwide Pools owner Keith Stuart agreed to not fight the 35 complaints filed against him that totaled $1,011,641. The state didn't levy a fine against him.

In June, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a lawsuit against Stuart, alleging his company used false and deceptive marketing practices; failed to pay subcontractors, causing liens to be placed on customers' homes; charged illegal credit card fees; misrepresented pool financing, rebates, and warranties; and, failed to complete the construction of pools.

In an email to Local 10 after the lawsuit was announced, Stuart wrote: "We are currently cooperating with the AG's office as well as DBPR. I personally apologize to all clients that this has affected, it was always our intention to build & complete every swimming pool project."

The lawsuit seeks consumer restitution and permanent injunctive relief banning the company and its owners and managers from future pool construction.

Stuart closed the company a few weeks prior. Several South Floridians accused him of leaving their pools unfinished.
