Suspect arrested in Homestead gas station robbery

John Croissy arrested Thursday night

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A man has been arrested in connection with a violent robbery attempt at a Homestead gas station.

John Croissy, 26, was taken into custody Thursday night at his home in North Miami.

Police believe he is the man caught on surveillance video running over a woman after a robbery attempt at the Sunoco gas station at 1106 N. Homestead Boulevard on August 5.

The video shows a man opening the driver's side door of the woman's car and sneaking inside. She fights back when he tries to steal her purse, running over her in the process.

Police would not say much about how they tracked the suspect down.

"I can't go too much into what led us to him. What I can tell you is it was hard work by the detectives of the Homestead Police Department," said Detective Fernando Gonzales.

Before his arrest, the victim told Local 10's Sasha Andrade that Croissy's face had been seared in her memory. She says he got away with the money she needed to buy her children's school uniforms, which they still don't have.

One of her arms was broken in several places.

If you would like to help her children get their school uniforms, a special funds checking account has been set up through Power Financial Credit Union. The account number is 517704-30.
