Thursday was a big day for Local 10's Making A Difference project at Gratigny Plateau Park.
The goal is to turn an abandoned field into a great public space for the whole community to enjoy.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon at Gratigny Plateau Park, which is at Northwest 116th Street and Eighth Avenue.
Neighbors had three design plans to choose from, and they picked one shaped like a flower.
Local 10's Laurie Jennings and Calvin Hughes were there for the ceremony.
Hundreds of people took to the streets in Baltimore to protest the death of Freddie Gray, who died last Sunday after injuries he suffered while in police custody.
