MIAMI – Police arrested a duo accused of forcing a woman into prostitution and kidnapping her from the Orlando strip club where she worked.
Demetrick Cooks met the victim in November 2013 in an Orlando gentlemen's club, according to an arrest affidavit. He then offered her an opportunity in the modeling business.
After the victim agreed, Cooks, 27, disclosed to her that he was a pimp and demanded that she work as a prostitute for him, holding her against her will.
The victim was forced to travel to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Hawaii to work as a prostitute, all under the supervision of Cooks and 26-year-old Kimberly Agorilla.
"The brutality that's involved, the trauma that's involved -- physical, emotional, sexually -- just all so unfathomable," said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.
The victim was directed on how to seduce customers and give them a price for her acts. She was directed to make a daily quota of $1,000 and threatened if she didn't meet the quota. On several occasions she was beaten when she didn't meet that quota, according to an arrest report.
The victim said Wednesday that she would no longer continue prostituting for Cooks and Agorillo. They then abducted the victim from the Orlando gentlemen's club where she worked and brought her to Miami Springs.
The victim was able to contact her mother and let her know what happened and where she was. Her mother then alerted police, who found the victim at a Comfort Inn on Northwest 36th Street.
"Thirty-sixth Street was blocked off for quite some time and I just saw the police come into the hotel," said a employee who asked not to be identified. "It was pretty crazy."
Cooks and Agorilla are charged with human trafficking, kidnapping and deriving support from the proceeds of prostitution.
The victim told police that she earned about $37,000 while working as a prostitute, which was all taken from her.
