Car involved in Coral Gables fatal hit-and-run crash found

Gray Nissan Altima has severe damage to front, windshield

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A car believed to involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Coral Gables was towed from a southwest Miami-Dade County home early Friday morning.

A bicyclist was killed when he was hit by a car early Thursday morning on Bird Road at Granada Boulevard. A police officer found the unidentified man's body in the road.

According to police, the bicycle and victim's shoe were found about four blocks west of the scene at Mariola Court, just north of Bird Road.

The gray Nissan Altima was found after Coral Gables police received a tip that a car with severely damage was parked outside a home at 8500 Southwest 46th Street.

Coral Gables police Officer Kelly Denham said the car was hidden behind a fence in an attempt to conceal it from anyone who may have been passing by.

"It freaked me out to actually think somebody who lives around here would do that; that is a little scary," said a neighbor.

Police said it's unclear if the car belongs to the people who live there or how it ended up there.

"Once the inside of this vehicle has been processed, we're hoping that the evidence will lead us to identifying a driver," Denham said.
