Fort Lauderdale police say man removed victim from vehicle, fled area

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā€“ A 34-year-old man involved in a police chase that took place Wednesday evening in Deerfield Beach has been taken into custody.

Fort Lauderdale police responded to the BP gas station, located at Southeast 17th Street and South Federal Highway, in reference to a carjacking.

A man was sitting inside his vehicle when police said the suspect, Dean Francis Aubol, forcibly removed him and left the area in his vehicle.

A description of the vehicle and the suspect was provided to officers by police radio.Ā Police said an officer found the vehicle in the area of I-95 and Broward Boulevard.

Police said Aubol drove the vehicle onto northbound I-95 when he ultimately bailed out of the vehicle at 133 Lock Road in Deerfield Beach, and ran into a nearby apartment complex.

Fort Lauderdale police officers and Broward Sheriff's Office deputies took Aubol into custody.

Police said there were no known traffic crashes as a result of this incident.
