Police focus attention on former boyfriend of missing woman

Carl Watts also missing, has long history with police

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police are now focusing their attention on the boyfriend of a Fort Lauderdale woman who has been missing for a week.

Trukita Scott and her boyfriend, Carl Watts, mysteriously disappeared last Wednesday.

U.S. marshals arrived at Watts' home Wednesday with a search warrant.

"I really believe that she's with him," said Charles Scott, Trukita's father. "He acted real possessive, like he wanted everything to himself. That's the way he showed me when it came to her."

Watts' neighbors said he comes and goes and has only lived in the Fort Lauderdale duplex a short time. But police said they are very familiar with him.

Watts was arrested in May after he was seen on surveillance video trying to kidnap an 18-year-old woman from a bus stop along Sunrise Boulevard. He was charged with false imprisonment and battery.

Local 10 News has learned Watts was also on federal probation at the time on a weapons charge. That charge stemmed from an armed robbery conviction in 2010 in Miami-Dade County.

Scott's car was found Tuesday abandoned in Liberty City. She was reported missing last Wednesday after she failed to pick up her children from day care.

Watts is not considered a suspect in Scott's disappearance at this time.
