Police handle crowds on Fort Lauderdale Beach

Beach, 17th Street Causeway reopen after closed by Fort Lauderdale police

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale Beach reopened late Monday afternoon after being shut down by police due to unruly crowds.

On Memorial Day, Fort Lauderdale police closed access from the 17th Street Causeway.

At one point during the day, the beach was also closed, but also reopened along with 17th Street.

Beachgoers took to Twitter to snap photos and video of the situation.
