FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police are investigating what led to a structural beam collapse Saturday afternoon in Fort Lauderdale.
The incident happened before 2 p.m. Saturday at Griffin Road and Federal Highway.
Investigators said the structural beams being installed within the construction site at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport suddenly came crashing down.
A construction worker suffered a minor injury and had to be treated on the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, according to police.
A cleanup was underway soon after the incident and nearby railways were shut down.
