Jeffrey Blanc charged with arson, criminal mischief

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A woman's ex-boyfriend set her new boyfriend's car and home on fire, according to the North Miami Beach Police Department.

Police charged 32-year-old Jeffrey Blanc with two counts of arson and three counts of criminal mischief.

According to police, Blanc broke up with his on and off girlfriend of two years in 2012. She told police he was controlling and followed her around.

When his efforts to rekindle their relationship went unanswered, Blanc took out his frustrations on her new boyfriend, police said.

On March 29, March 31, and April 22, Blanc spray painted the new boyfriend's home in the 15600 block of Northeast 10th Court in North Miami Beach, police said. He also spray painted his car and his ex-girlfriend's car.

On April 30, he doused the new boyfriend's car with gasoline and set it on fire, causing minor damage, police said. On June 23, he did it again, and the fire spread to the new boyfriend's home.

Surveillance video showed Blanc setting fire to the vehicles on June 23, police said. He confessed when questioned by detectives.
