Deputy pursuit ends in 3-car crash in Miami Gardens

4 people taken to hospital

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy's pursuit led to a crash in Miami Gardens just before midnight Thursday.

According to the arrest report, the chase started when the driver of a white Cadillac, identified as Zachary Moorin, 34, made an illegal u-turn on Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

When deputies tried to pull him over, Moorin sped off, launching his car in their direction, the report said.

Deputies pursued the car south on Interstate 95 into Miami-Dade County.

That's when Moorin lost control of the Cadillac and crashed into two other cars near Miami-Gardens Drive and U.S. Highway 441.

Ana Forbes said she was driving one of the cars that was struck.

"I'm so shocked," she told Local 10.

Four people, including Moorin, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Moorin was treated, released and taken to jail.

One of the victims, identified as George McGill, 21 is listed in critical condition at the hospital.

Moorin is facing five charges, including aggravated battery and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
