MIAMI – Miami police are looking for a group of armed men who robbed three Marathon gas stations in a span of 10 days.
Two of the men entered a Marathon gas station March 21 about 3:30 a.m. One of them was masked and armed with a shotgun.
The men forced the cashier into the bathroom, tied the cashier up and took all the money from the register and a cellphone.
Two men entered another Marathon gas station about 3:50 a.m. Thursday. Again, one of them was armed. They rushed the cashier's work station and took all the money.
The third robbery happened Monday about 4 a.m. when two men entered a Marathon gas station at 3501 NW 22nd Ave. While one of the men posed as a customer, the other, masked and armed with a gun, entered the cashier's work station and demanded money. The man posing as a customer stood guard at the door and told a customer to leave, saying they were robbing the gas station.
While the robbers were leaving the station, they struck a woman outside who was pumping gas.
"We are worried that they are going to strike again," said Miami Police Sgt. Freddie Cruz.
Police are describing the first robber as a white man, possible Hispanic, about 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 150-170 pounds. He is believed to be in his 20s and was seen wearing black pants, a black shirt, a mask and armed with a shotgun.
The second robber is described as a white man, possible Hispanic, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches, weighing 150 pounds. He is believed to be in his 20s and was seen wearing blue jeans and a striped shirt.
The third man police are looking for is described as a black man, who identified himself in one robbery as Jesus Castillo. He is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 170 pounds and was seen wearing a green polo shirt with blue jeans.
"Any time we have an armed robbery, it worries us. These individuals are armed with a shotgun and any moment they could take anyone's life," Cruz said. "Next time they strike, the consequences could be deadly."
