Police try to ID Sawgrass Mills jewelry thief

Man poses as customer, steals ring worth more than $31,000

SUNRISE, Fla. – Police are trying to identify a man who pretended to be shopping for a ring that he stole from a jewelry store at the Sawgrass Mills mall.

The theft occurred last Tuesday at CR Jewelers.

Sunrise police said the man entered the store and inquired about several diamond rings.

The man asked to see a 2.95 carat, white gold diamond ring. After the employee handed it to the man, he ran out of the store.

Police said the ring was worth more than $31,000.

The man got away in a four-door car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala.
