Residents escape from early-morning house fire in Fort Lauderdale

Woman hospitalized with injuries not related to fire

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Residents at a Fort Lauderdale home escaped an early-morning fire Monday.

Fort Lauderdale firefighters were called to a house fire at 507 NW Eighth Ave. about 2:15 a.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Heiser said the residents escaped before firefighters arrived, although one woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with injuries not related to the fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames to two rooms.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
