Sandbags giveaway in Hollywood and Hallandale Beach

Heavy rain expected in South Florida

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – Ahead of the heavy rain expected in South Florida, city leaders in Hollywood and Hallandale Beach gave away free sandbags Thursday.

People in Hollywood can pick up sandbags at the Public Works yard, 1600 South Park Road, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Officials in Hallandale Beach will be handing out sandbags at the Public Works building, 630 NW Second St., from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

You must be able to prove you are a resident in order to receive the sandbags.

A few weeks ago, parts of Hollywood turned into temporary lakes when heavy rain passed through the area.
