24 hurt after restaurant deck collapses in North Bay Village

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue treats 24 people, 2 in critical condition

NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla. – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews are treating 24 people who were injured after the pier of a restaurant collapsed, causing them to fall into the water.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at the Shuckers Bar And Grill, located at 1819 79th Street Causeway in North Bay Village.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said they are treating 24 people with injuries. Crews told Local 10's Janine Stanwood that 2 people are in critical condition and 15 people were taken to the hospital.

The U.S. Coast Guard said 100 people were reported to be on the pier.

"We will continue to do whatever we can to assist during this incident," said Cmdr. Darren Caprara, Coast Guard Sector Miami chief of response. "We are fortunate to have strong interagency relationships and are poised to continue to assist our local agency partners as needed."
