MIAMI -

An 83-year-old man is in custody after he shot at another driver in a road-rage incident in Miami.

The shooting occurred Friday afternoon at Northwest Seventh Street and Northwest 12th Avenue.

Miami police said the driver of a white Acura, identified as Miguel Garcia, was leaving a tire shop and turned into traffic, cutting off a red Volkswagen Beetle driven by 83-year-old Mario Perez-Tano.

Witnesses told Local 10 News the two drivers began to argue when Mario Perez-Tano got out of the VW and fired two shots -- once at the Acura's tire and a second time through the driver's side window.

Garcia wasn't shot and immediately sped off, only to be pursued by Perez-Tano. Both were stopped by a draw bridge.

Henry Laurido, the owner of the tire shop, was with his two daughters when they witnessed what happened.

"The bad thing about it is the bridge came up, and it caught everybody," Laurido told Local 10.

Miami police officers in the area arrived and arrested Perez-Tano.

Garcia was treated by Miami Fire Rescue and released at the scene for minor injuries.

Police said Perez-Tano was arrested and charged with one count of attempted murder.
