SUNRISE, Fla. – On Saturday, a South Florida man will begin a cross-country bike ride to raise money for a baby, born without hands or forearms.
This is a limitation Hector Picard knows well.
In 1992, Picard was severely injured during an electrical accident. Suffering second and third degree burns, he also had to have his right arm and half of his left arm amputated.
Now, he is an accomplished cyclist, tri-athlete and motivational speaker. On Saturday, Hector will begin a 3,200 mile bike ride from Miami, Florida, to Spokane, Washington, all to raise money for 14-month-old Jameson Davis.
Baby Jameson was born in Spokane with no hands or forearms. Jameson's parents are struggling to afford the prosthetics he needs in order to live a full life.

Saturday, Sunrise Mayor Michael J. Ryan will join Hector's "Hands for Baby Jameson" fundraising kickoff at 10:00 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 84 and Glades Parkway. Mayor Ryan will continue with Hector as he rides through Markham Park.
"Hector is a three-time Ironman tri-athlete," said Mayor Ryan. "He has achieved extraordinary personal goals. But there is nothing more impressive or more inspiring than what he has set out to do for Jameson Davis."
