South Floridians, visitors enjoy chilly temperatures

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – South Floridians and visitors are enjoying the chilly temperatures, a welcome change from the rain and humidity that's been with us so far this winter.

People bundled up as they passed restaurants and space heaters along Ocean Drive on Thursday afternoon.

"We saw that it was going to be in the 60s all week, so I actually brought four tops thinking I'm not going to need them, so I still have all these cute little summer tops that I don't have on," said Tina Strohmeier, who was visiting from South Carolina. "We're actually enjoying this. I wanted 80 degrees, but this is excellent.

"It's just perfect," said Dan Kay, who was visiting from West Virginia.

"We have the heaters, so we're trying to keep everybody cozy and inside, and it's actually warm," said Maria Ioncea with 530 Ocean's Grill.

On the sand, Carl Choute with Boucher Brothers knew he'd be renting fewer beach chairs.

"Business was kind of slow but it picked up due to the fact that we have these cabanas to offer," he said.

Temperatures are forecast to stay in the 50s and 60s throughout Friday, with the trend continuing through the weekend.
