MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – At the end of South Pointe Park and jutting from the sand on Miami Beach is South Pointe Pier, which is scheduled to open to the public this week.
The telescoping pier, which includes fish-cleaning stations and sea turtle friendly lighting, is made with durable South American wood and aluminum.
City officials said they hoped the pier would have been ready in the spring?, but a spokesperson said weather delayed the opening date.
Funding sources for the $4.8 million project include Miami-Dade County resort taxes and state grants.
The grand opening for the public is Friday, Aug. 15?.
