Sunrise man robbed, attacked during Craigslist sale

Deputies: Victim was stabbed repeatedly while meeting up with a couple to sell his iPhone 4S

SUNRISE, Fla. – A husband and wife were arrested after deputies said they robbed and attacked a man who they were supposed to purchase an iPhone 4S from off Craigslist.

Deputies said the father of three met the couple at the Sawgrass Target parking lot July 20. As he leaned into the car to show the phone to the woman, the couple took off, dragging him through the street.

The alleged victim said he crawled into the car and one of the occupants, Neil Rekart, stabbed him repeatedly until the car crashed.

After the car crashed, Sunrise police arrested Rekart and his wife, Clarissa Menken. The couple has young children and told police they were both out of work. They are being held in the Broward main jail without bond.

Officials in the Broward Sheriff's Office said they have designated its Weston location as a safe Internet trade zone, where sellers can meet up with legitimate buyers for a safe sale.
