Sunrise restaurant ordered shut for third time in October

Roaches, rodent gnaw marks found at Mehfil Restaurant and Banquet Hall

SUNRISE, Fla. – State records show Mehfil Indian Restaurant and Banquet Hall in Sunrise was ordered shut for the third time in October last week.

Records indicate a continued roach problem. Rodent gnaw marks were also found in a food storage area.

"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed 3 under in a corner under the top of a prep table in the kitchen. They wer immediately killed and disposed by the owner. 1 on the Dish machine, this one was also immediately killed. 1 on a not in use set of refrigerator drawers in a hallway outside the kitchen. Also immediately killed. 1 on the wall next to the breaker boxes in the kitchen. This one was immediately killed. **Repeat Violation**"

"Observed a hole in the cove molding in a dry food storage area that has gnaw marks."

"Live, small flying insects in kitchen, food preparation area, or food storage area. Observed that the back door was open upon my arrival. An employee closed the back door."

"Dead roaches on premises. Observed over 20 dead roaches on the floor in storage and prep areas. Observed 1 on a dough rolling machine. Observed approximately 20 in 2 ceiling light covers in a prep area near the walk-in cooler. 2 on an oven door hinge. 2 on the floor in the kitchen. 2 inside the Henny Penny hot hold box in the kitchen. 2 on the floor next to the ice machine in the kitchen. 1 on a dry board of the 3 compartment sink. **Repeat Violation**"
