Suspect arrested in shooting of Fort Lauderdale cab driver

Police: Joseph Keel, 31, refused to pay fare, opened fire on cabbie

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police have made an arrest in the shooting of a cab driver in Fort Lauderdale.

Police say Joseph Keel, 31, refused to pay his fare Saturday, and then opened fire on the cab driver, Joseph Nare.

Police say Nare picked Keel up Saturday afternoon near the Lauderhill Mall and dropped him off in Fort Lauderdale. When the cabbie asked to be paid, Keel allegedly brandished a gun and ran.

Nare allegedly ran after him and that's when police say Keel began to fire his weapon.

Nare was shot several times and treated at an area hospital.
