Teen arrested in shooting of 15-year-old girl

Police say 15-year-old boy faces charge of attempted murder

MIAMI – A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old girl in Miami.

Police said the 14-year-old boy faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from Wednesday's shooting.

"I was told that the little boy was in the yard waving a gun into my daughter's face," Jamita Boatman told Local 10 News.

Boatman said the boy shot her daughter, Ronniesha Hart in the back.

"He's 14," Boatman said. "What is a 14-year-old doing with a gun?"

That's the question police are asking as they try to determine where he got the gun.

Police haven't released the name of the alleged shooter.

Hart remained at Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition Thursday morning.

The suspect is being held at juvenile hall until his next hearing on July 23.
