Teenage girl seriously injured in shooting

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office Violent Crimes detectives identified and detained two teenagers they believe were involved in the shooting of a 15-year-old girl that was shot in Pompano Beach and seriously injured Monday.

Detectives believe the victim and her niece were walking in the Pompano Beach area of 14th Circle with two 15-year-old boys they knew, when one of the boys shot the victim in the chest.

The victim and her niece walked to a nearby relatives house where she was treated by Pompano Beach Fire Rescue, then transported by air to Broward Health Medical Center.

It is believed that her injuries are not life threatening, but the two boys suspected of being involved are being questioned while charges are pending.
