Police search for 2 men in connection with armed robbery

MIAMI – Police are searching for two men who robbed an elderly woman at gunpoint in Miami.

The incident happened before 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Southwest 23rd Road.

Investigators said Luisa Diaz, 84, was putting out her garbage when she was ambushed by the men.

Diaz said the duo held her at gunpoint and pushed her back inside the home she has lived in for more than 50 years.

Police said the thieves got away with some of her jewelry, including her wedding band and the necklace she was wearing. Both of the men fled on foot in a southbound direction.

The thieves were described by Miami police as two possibly Hispanic men in their 30s who are both about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh about 170 pounds.

Diaz was treated at the scene by Miami Fire Rescue for minor injuries, according to police.
