Ghanson Debrosse
NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -

The death of a 3-year-old boy who police say was tortured by his mother has officially been ruled a homicide.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's Office reported Friday that Ghanson Debrosse died from multiple injuries and trauma.

Police say 21-year-old Fafane Caze repeatedly beat her young son, tortured him with a lighter to stop him from urinating on the floor and applied a concoction of vegetable oil and laundry blue to his wounds instead of seeking medical treatment.

Authorities believe the child was dead for hours before he was taken to a hospital early Tuesday.

Caze was being held at a Miami-Dade County jail without bond. She's charged with aggravated child abuse and torture, but North Miami police say additional charges are pending in light of the autopsy.

An announcement on charges is expected in the next week after a consult with the state attorney.
