The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the hit and run death of a tow truck driver, who was killed early Saturday morning on a Kendall highway.
According to an officer, the driver responded to a car fire along the Don Shula Expressway, near the intersection at Killian Parkway just after 3 a.m.
"He started to assist the driver, when a vehicle drove into the emergency lane, struck the tow truck driver and killed him," said Trooper Joe Sanchez.
The driver the victim was assisting was not hurt.
Investigators are looking for an older model BMW that may be dark burgundy or maroon. It likely has damage to the front right corner, a shattered window, and missing rear view mirror.
If you have any information, call the Florida Highway Patrol at 305-470-2500.
"This is a perfect example of the Move Over law. These are individuals who are out here providing assistance and we ask the motorists to respect the law which is to move over a lane and reduce their speed."
