MIAMI -

Effective immediately, all of the Venetian Causeway bridges, except the West Venetian Bascule Bridge, have lowered their weight limits from 15 tons to 11 tons due to a recent load rating analysis.

The West Venetian Bascule bridge has lowered its weight limit to 5 tons until repairs are made.

Because of the new weight restrictions, Miami-Dade Transit bus Route A, which stops on the Venetian Causeway, has been temporarily suspended.

In addition, stops for bus Route South Beach Local (123) in Belle Isle will also be relocated to the east entrance of the Venetian Causeway, near Purdy Avenue and Dade Boulevard, until further notice.

Officials are recommending drivers who are carrying more than the weight limit traveling between Miami Beach and the city of Miami use Route S (119), Beach MAX (120), C (103) and M (113).
