A former employee of Memorial Regional Hospital has filed a lawsuit against the hospital, as well as a surgeon, alleging that she was sexually assaulted.
According to the lawsuit, the woman worked as a surgical technician at the hospital from 2006-2013. She claims Dr. Juan Wester slapped and grabbed her buttocks several times beginning in 2012.
The woman says she reported the incidents to her supervision and no action was taken. She resigned several weeks after the last incident.
The lawsuit states the plaintiff is demanding a jury trial, and is seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages, costs and further relief as the court deems just and proper.
