Woman goes into labor after crash, delivers twins

Baby born in car, second born at hospital

MIAMI – A young woman is recovering following a car accident that happened as she was on her way to the hospital to give birth to twins. It happened just after 6 a.m. Friday on Southwest 152nd Street and 102nd Avenue.

Jessica Stanley, her fiancée, Antavian Milton, and their three children were on their way to Jackson Hospital South when a car pulled in front of them. The rear end collision left the front end of their little Toyota severely damaged.

Betty Hornes was on her way to work and stopped to help. Hornes works in the endoscopy department as Baptist Hospital and delivered the first baby -- a boy, Antavian II, 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

She told Local 10's Roger Lohse that she breathed a sigh of relief when the newborn started to cry. But that relief was short lived.

"I told dad that everything was going to be OK and he said, 'No, there's another one in there!'" Hornes said.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed Stanley and the newborn to the hospital where the second child was delivered.

Relatives told Local 10 the family is doing well.
