OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A child is dead after being hit by a vehicle Saturday in the 700 block of Northwest 42 Street in Oakland Park.
Deputies said Delivrance Delien, 65, was backing his car out of a driveway around 6:30 p.m. when he crashed into an unoccupied vehicle that was parked on the street.

He then sped forward to make a U-turn but lost control of his SUV and drove into the front yard of another home, striking a vehicle parked in that driveway that then struck Estelida Morales, 54, and her 4-year-old grandson, Joshua Snyder.
Morales and Snyder were transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where Snyder was pronounced dead. Morales remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies said Delien stayed on the scene and cooperated with detectives.
