Self-proclaimed 'Tax Doctor' charged in wife's murder in Miramar

Husband tells police wife was shot at home

MIRAMAR, Fla. – Police arrested a man who was accused of murdering his wife at their home in Miramar Saturday.

Brian Symonette, 43, was accused of shooting his wife Lisa Symonette, 51, dead, Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues said. The shooting happened Saturday morning at their home, 3400 Southwest 130th Avenue.

Rescue crews arrived after he called 911 about 9:50 a.m. to say his wife was injured. The woman was dead. Police charged him with premeditated murder, and he was held in the Broward Main Jail without bond Sunday.

The couple's 11-year-old was inside the home when the shooting happened and was temporarily placed with family members,  Rues said.

Neighbors said Symonette was known as the "Tax Doctor." He operated a tax preparation office, 5881 NW 151St., in Miami Lakes.

His reputation was tarnished in 2009.  Courts denied him about $14,000 in deductions related to a Hummer, records show.

The victim, neighbors said, worked as a nurse.
