Not realizing how high they were, the 23-year-old woman became disoriented and was unable to climb down, Miami Fire-Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll said.

Bayside staff heard the woman's cries for help, realized the woman was not well enough to climb down and called 911.

Miami firefighters arrived about 9:30 a.m. Sunday and found the woman clinging to the tree and her boyfriend trying to keep her calm. Shortly after their arrival, the woman seemed to be going in and out of consciousness, Carroll said.

Firefighters used ropes and a body harness to help get the woman down.

Carroll said she was lowered to waiting paramedics and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
