West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel will soon represent District 22nd in the U.S. House of Representatives after receiving 55 percent of the vote over former Republican Florida Rep. Adam Hasner.
"I've been training for this my whole life," said Frankel. "I feel like I'm ready to tackle this."
Frankel cruised to victory in Tuesday's election. She will represent portions of Broward and Palm Beach Counties in the House.
Frankel hopes she can help bridge the divide between Democrats and Republicans despite her reputation for being a former hard charging legislator.
"That doesn't sound very compromising," said Local 10's Roger Lohse.
"Hard charging is very different than compromising. I'm hard charging and I like to get things done, but you know what, I've learned in life is that no woman is an island, you can't get things done unless it's a team approach, you have to build consensus and then you have to make things happen," answered Frankel. "And, now it's time for the bickering to end, find common ground, get people back to work and get our fiscal house in order," said Frankel.
Frankel will be heading to Washington over the weekend for an orientation for freshmen members.
